A Photographer’s Eye in 2013

Now that we’ve transitioned into a new year, I’ve had a chance to look back on some of my favourite images taken for The Hamilton Spectator in 2013. Here are a few:

A group of rowers brought one of their training shells to the water to have some fun in the makeshift lake. Ontario, Friday, March 2, 2013  - The school community at Hamilton District Christian High School collected nearly 4,000 boxes of mac and cheese, and celebrated their achievement with some fun: eating contests, and a domino-like maze using all the boxes. The Leaves, They Are a Changin’…

Who doesn’t love the transformation that occurs every autumn? We even know what’s coming; still, we watch with amazement as green become red, or yellow, or one of the myriad of hues that signal a changing of the season. A magical time, that disappears too quickly.

A Ride in a Monster Truck

Sometimes, being a professional photographer is a pretty cool job. Not as cool as this guy’s job, mind you. Cam McQueen gets to say he is a monster truck driver. How many people get to do that? But I DID get to take a ride in Cam’s truck, which was a highlight in a 30 year career. Cool, indeed. Check out the video here:
